Dear Parents/Guardians, Sept. 2016
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you, and your child back to Minot Forest Elementary School for another school year. For those who are new to our school community, we would like to extend a special welcome. We hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. The year ahead will be filled with many challenges, for you as parents, for the teachers, and for the students.
As a team, we will coordinate curriculum and homework assignments. Mrs. Hennigan is the English Language Arts and Science teacher and Mrs. Shearer is the Mathematics and Social Studies teacher. Writing will be emphasized this year in all subjects. We are excited about using the student Chromebooks to integrate technology into the curriculum. Students will use their tablets to access the Internet and create projects using educational apps. Student e-mails through he District are available so that students can submit work from any computer, tablet, or phone.
It is our belief that we are working together as a team in the education of your child. As such, we should all be fully aware of your child’s progress. During this school year, we will be sending assignments, weekly reading logs, and a weekly progress report home. Your child will be responsible for recording homework in their student agenda book, which also includes a place for us to communicate. Please feel free to comment on your child’s work or to express any concerns. You may also contact Mrs. Hennigan at [email protected] and Mrs. Shearer at t[email protected]. The office phone number is (508) 291-3555.
Your child’s time in school is precious. Therefore, it is necessary that school and classroom rules are followed so that learning is not disrupted. In the near future, we will be sending home our classroom rules and behavior policy. Our school motto is “Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness”.
We look forward to meeting you at our Open House September 22nd at 5:00 pm and hope that together we can make this school year rewarding and fulfilling!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hennigan
